P4P800 Strikes Again (Wireless G PCI Card)
Okay here is the issue and maybe you guys can help becuase I cant fathom what other problem this could be except for a MOBO issue of non-compatibility...
So where to start. I have Windows Vista installed. I dont want you to focus on this problem though becuase I am sure it is not Vista's fault...So lets not waste time there. Also please dont reply unless you are willing to give a detailed suggestion based off the steps I have already completed below. Telling me it could be a memory issue or an OS issue does me no good becuase that is like saying a truck doesnt run becuase it might have an engine issue. So here is what I have: Custom built PC ran for two years now... Asus MOBO P4P800 Radeon XT 9800 Maxter HD Pentium 4 3.2 ghz 1.3 g RAM So here we start out by trying to install a Belkin Wireless G PCI card in order to connect with my comcast wireless router...Not it is not the router since I checked with the Manufacturer of both comcast and belkin and both said they are compatible. So hooked it up and could not detect a connection. Went to the Tower and realized the lights werent even on in the back of the PC. SO I opened it back up after a shutdown and switched the PCI slots...Powered up and nothing...HMMMM...So I run devmgmt.msc and look under the adapter and there is nothing for it listed...That is odd. Next to what is called Broadcom Network Adapter #4 there is an exclamation (!). So I look into it and I get a code 10 this device cannot start...So since this is the 802.11g adapter I am trying like hell to get this fixed...Why the hell wont it start...I try and update and I am told it is updated already with the most uptodate driver. So I go to Broadcom and try and update and the same thing. PISSED AM I by this point. So whatever... I take the Belkin Back... In commeth the Linksys Wireless G...Go figure I run the software, then shutdown, install, and low and behold now my freakin OS wont even load. WTF!!! So anyway I take it out, cut the power, reset the mem, then I am loading back up. WOW!!! Anyway I go to ASUS HQ and DL the new BIOS...Flash my BIOS (what a freaking pain in the ***) and then I am running with a cooler POST message startup (quite streamlined...Oooohhh...Ahhhhhhh) and anyway back to the OS. Load it up and try to put the PCI wireless card from LINKSYS back in and...Nothing...No lights...Just like the BELKIN. No freakin lights....Change back to my old Linksys dsl PCI card and...WOW it works...Lights...from the same slot as the Wireless was from... So I uninstall the Network Adapter for the 802.11g and reinstall it. Nothing changes...Still code 10. Researched the net everywhere and no advice on how to fix it. (There is but none of it works) Now when I try and install the driver for the Linksys I get this message...The syntax of the INF is invalid...Great like I know what that is...Turns out after many hours of research no one else knows what this is either...Man... ![]() ![]() ![]() CAN ANYONE HELP>>>>MAN AM I SICK OF THIS>>>> I am trying to get wirelss to the desktop becuase the router can not be in the room my desktop is. I know the easy solution would be to get the thing hooked to a landline but it is not possible. I need to make this thing wireless or throw it in the trash.
