Asus P5K-C Ethernet Disconnects
I had a similar problem with the onboard LAN on my P5GDC Deluxe which would disconnect me entirely if I P2Ped or even just regular http. I don't want to waste a PCI slot for a Ethernet Card so is there anything I can do?

If the on-board Ethernet isn't working properly, you're pretty much stuck using a slot.

That sounds more like drivers. It could also be the cable or the port on the router/switch.
