Edimax PCi card Vista Driver issue
I just got an Edimax EW-7728In PCI card for my comp with Windows Vista Ultimate (having ultimate could be another possible reason for this problem). I installed everything easily but it says that the driver is unable to be found. The icon that appeared at the bottom left in the taskbar had a red "X" over it and it said "Not Exist". I checked to see if this was because I installed the actual card incorrectly, but the lights were on on it. Plus even if I get this thing working I have no idea how to connect it to the wireless router in my house (it's my dad's). If anyone has had this problem, please help! Thanks! :)

Re: Edimax PCi card Vista Driver issue
Was this a Vista driver you tried to install? Did you go to the Edimax website and download the latest Vista driver?

Re: Edimax PCi card Vista Driver issue
My computer is custom built. The OS is Windows Vista Ultimate. The actual make and model of the card is Edimax EW-7728In PCI adapter. The wireless router in my house is a Linksys WRT54GS. We also have a Verison FIOS router, too (I dunno if that would matter or not). When I go to check my network settings, there is nothing there...no connections to anything.

Re: Edimax PCi card Vista Driver issue
The fact that the driver doesn't load is the issue. Unless you get the card properly installed, it will never be used by Windows networking.

Re: Edimax PCi card Vista Driver issue
yeah, i figured that, i was just stating that there was nothing in the network settings...which I guess is kind of a given being that I havn't installed the card yet, lol. Well, I tried taking out the card after uninstalling it, then putting it back in another PCI slot. The same thing keeps happening. I have a feeling it might be because I have windows vista Ultimate and not Windows home edition...but I am probably wrong. Thanks for your help! :)

Re: Edimax PCi card Vista Driver issue
How would I get the driver to install correctly? I am either doing something terribly wrong, or I'm going to have to return the card. I e-mailed the tech support at Edimax, and they replied and told me to take out the card and put it in another slot. She said that the "Not Exist" error was that the card is not being read properly or w/e. I just do not know what to do, I'm kind of new to all this driver installation stuff. lol

Re: Edimax PCi card Vista Driver issue
There should be no difference between Ultimate and Home as far as supporting that card.
I'm guessing it's simply incompatible with your machine, something that happens more often than you might imagine.
