NIC Clone
Does anyone know of any network cards that can be flashed to allow you change to a different mac address. I tried using macmakeup to change it but that just changes the way windows id's it. The software that is looking for it is looking much deeper, most likely right at the card.

Re: NIC Clone
The point of having unique fixed MAC addresses is to avoid confusion on the network. What makes you want to change the MAC address of the card?

Re: NIC Clone
I have some software that was licensed to my old laptop's MAC Address, My old laptop crapped out on me and I want to run the software on my new laptop. Unfortunately the company who wrote the software for me is out of biz so I am checking my options. The software is specific to running spectrography on core samples and plugging into another Database that we are running. In other words I am not getting replacement software from tucows.....

Re: NIC Clone
If one of the MAC changing utilities doesn't do it, it must be probing the actual MAC address embedded in the firmware of the NIC. Unless you can access that firmware, I don't see you you're going to change the address. You may be able to find an external NIC, either PCMCIA or USB, that will allow a firmware upgrade and a MAC address change.
