After bios flash, horrible network connection

wireless card:
DLink DWL-G510 PCI wireless network adapter

OK, i recently upgraded my processor, which also forced me to update my bios (mobo: asus a8n sli deluxe).

After the flash, i had a whole lot of trouble getting the damn thing to even recognize i had a network card plugged into my mobo, but finally after digging the cd out and reinstalling it i was able to grab a connection. The problem is, now My connection is steadily between 1-11 mbps..mostly 1mbps....and the connection signal is always 'excellent'
Before updating the bios, i was getting 54mbps constantly.

And it doesnt matter if i use the windows wireless connection thing, or the DLink Airplus wireless connection software...its still the same.

I have the latest firmware for the card installed, I dont know what else to do. The USR access point/router is exactly the same in exactly the same spot from when before I did anything.
Is it possible the bios flash is the cause of this?? Or is it just some weird coincidence that my card is turning to junk?
I have 2 other computers in the network and theyre still getting 54mbps connections.

Re: After bios flash, horrible network connection

Hard to imagine the BIOS being the root of the issue. You might try resetting the BIOS parameters to factory defaults to see if that helps the situation.

Re: After bios flash, horrible network connection

Go through all your BIOS settings and make certain each and every one is set as it should be.

Check Device Manager for flagged devices.

Is the system overclocked ?

Re: After bios flash, horrible network connection

nope not overclocked.
Well im noticing even more problems now. My sound card and one of my dvd drives is not being detected.
Bios has been reset to defaults, I even reset the cmos just to see if that would help.
I cant install any software, drivers, etc for these 2 devices because its not even detecting them being installed, not in the device manager, not in the bios, nowhere.

This is really bugging the hell out of me. I realize i guess this is now more than just a networking issue, so if this should be moved so be it. But i still cant understand whats going on with my connection it refuses to go above 11mpbs. one of my dvd drives is working (the slave) the other one isnt. (its powered and openin/closing fine but its just not detected by the system)

Can a bios flash cause a surge-like reaction which damages or completely wrecks certain devices? I cant figure this out.

Re: After bios flash, horrible network connection

First make sure you LAN is enabled in BIOS.

You might need to reinstall your motherboard drivers.
