Cool Trying to connect wireless

I have a D-Link Di-514 router and a Netgear PC card. Ive been all the way through the wizard in the configuration process and ive applied all the settings. However, a screen displays after clicking apply and reads "the device is restarting" and then nothing happens. The Lnk light on the Netgear card never lights up and i never connect to the internet wireless. Any suggestions?

Re: Trying to connect wireless

I am a 2wire User / Support Agent and Authorized Dealer for their Wireless Modems BUT in this great grand INET WORLD of ours, everything is Vanilla as I see it, as long as you're flying with 802.11 b/g sometimes a little tweaking with a Mac vs PC but still Vanilla.

For D-Link people ..

1. Set your computer to the static IP 192.168.0.15 Don't worry about DNS or gateway addresses.

2. Open a browser window to the address http://192.168.0.30. You should be prompted with a Login prompt.

3. Login with Username: admin and Password: Leave Blank You should see the D-Link Device Configuration page.

4. Click on Wireless.

5. Set the SSID to socalfreenet.org

6. Set the TX Rate to 1-2-5.5-11 (Mbps) from its default of up to 22Mbs

7. Click Apply. You will get a screen saying "The Device is Restarting"

8. When the lights have stopped flashing on the D-Link box (about 20 secs), click the continue button.

9. Click on the Admin tab.

10. Change the password, write it down - e.g. we put it on a sticker on the box. This stops people reconfiguring your D-Link for fun and freakiness.

11. Change your IP back to DHCP (or whatever it was).Be sure to set the DNS back to automatic also as Windows will try not to.

That's it! You should be able to Connect & Surf to places like TSF

I found this Information on the Net which I think you will see refers to what you are currently dealing with. Pay attention to the Section on Firmware .. near bottom of page.
