JohnWill,
I just sold one of my PCs #1, but removed the D-Link DWL-G520 XtremeG 108G PCI Wireless NIC, which was working perfectly. I have another PC #2 using the same identical NIC, no problems. Someone wants to buy the NIC from PC #1, so to test it, I removed the NIC from PC #2 and installed the one from PC #1 and it's not detected, period. I know that electronics die at the drop-of-a-hat. Maybe it doesn't like it's new home! The NIC in PC #2 works in all PCI slots, while the NIC in PC #1 does not work, and is not detected, in any PCI slot. Any advice, or into the recycle bin it goes? Thanks. ![]() |

Nothing springs to mind.

Re: D-Link DWL-G520 XtremeG 108G PCI not detected
Install both of the adapters. at a command prompt type in getmac. if it shows a device with a mac of 00.00.00.00.00.00, the device is recognized but the mac address can't be determined but the mac can be entered manually in the network adapter properties page configuration box

Re: D-Link DWL-G520 XtremeG 108G PCI not detected
If it's not detected at all in Device Manager, where does one type in the MAC address?

Re: D-Link DWL-G520 XtremeG 108G PCI not detected
See lan-problems. Same general idea. Posts 4-6.
I just don't believe windows is always right. If a basic underpinning (pci bus driver (s)) isn't quite up to snuff, then anomalies can occur. It's just as likely, if not more likely, that there is an issue within windows as there is an issue with the adapter. Hardware just seems to be more reliable than software. About three weeks ago, there seems to have been a windows update that caused some weirdness in some pci drivers |
