torrents/multiple downloads freeze my computer
whenever i try downloading torrents (using ABC mostly, which i also used when this problem got fixed, but also tried many other clients) or sometimes while running limewire, my computer completely freezes. no mouse movement, no ctl+alt+del, nothing. i have to hard reset every time. sometimes it takes minutes to happen, sometimes hours.
the reason i am having this problem again is because last week i had to format my HDD due to my processor and motherboard frying. I could not save my HDD so i had to format. i am running a legal copy of winxp with all available updates and SP2. I have a 2.5ghz celeron and a gig of RAM. I have a crappy D-Link wireless-G adapter (DWL-G510 revision B) which also has the latest drivers. For some reason i think my wireless adapter had something to do with the problem, if that helps out at all (that's why i am posting this in this subforum). also, I have zone alarm, avast anti-virus, spybot, and ad-aware. they are all also the latest build and fully updated. when i first got my PC running again, they were the first programs i installed. If you need any more information about my system, please ask. please save me, because this problem is completely annoying. KTHX |

Re: torrents/multiple downloads freeze my computer
Wow that`s no good.... It seems your comp doesn`t like P2P too much. Are you sure it`s not government propaganda stopping you from pirating. Haha jokes. Anyways, are you letting the system fully load up before you open these programs, because if you`re rebooting and instantly going to the program that could be why, if you are waiting have you tried re-installation.... (sorry stupid keyboard is messed I can`t use question mark) and if that doesn`t fix it it`s possible HDD problems.

Re: torrents/multiple downloads freeze my computer
no, i am completely sure it is not that... as i said i had this problem before, and it was fixed around 2005 (i just cant remember how). i am 90% certain it has something to do with my wireless setup, specifically my d-link adapter. i need a specailized driver or software or something similar.

Re: torrents/multiple downloads freeze my computer
Please don't come here looking for help with P2P applications. Perhaps a visit to the Tech Support Forum Rules & Conduct page is in order.
