Weird connection issue, everything verified ok but no connection to network
One of my user's is having a crazy connection issue. She is using a Dell latitude D610, and in her cubicle when docked and hard wired in she has no connection to the network (no lights on nic in the dock) and in the sys she tray has an icon for unplugged network cable. I undocked the laptop and then plugged the network cable into the nic, still no connection, still no lights on the nic, and still has unplugged network cable icon in sys tray. Replaced cable with a verified working one, retried above steps and still no connection to the network
I replaced the docking station and still no connection. Brought the laptop back to my office and plugged it into a dock and I am able to connect to the network. Undocked the laptop, plugged the network cable into the nic and I was able to connect to the network. So I brought a brand new, just added to the domain, verified working, Latitude D620 to the user's cube, retried all of the above steps and could not connect to the network So here is the weird part, our data comm guy then checked the connection/cable in the users cube with a pinger and lan verifier and everything tested fine, the pinger was able to get an ip address. I am completely stumped |
