Problem with NIC
When I go to network connections the diolog box is empty. In device manager it shows the network adapter as working properly and enabled. If I do an ipconfig in DOS it comes up 0.0.0.0

Hello and welcome to TSF.
Type ipconfig /all and post the entirety of its response (right-click in the command prompt window -> Mark -> Highlight the output -> CTRL+C to copy -> CTRL+V to paste in a forum reply). Do you use a router, and if so what is its make and model? DHCP most likely needs to be enabled (it sounds like it is off), but let's see what the above command gives us first.
