Hello,
I am new to the group and to attempting to use SoundStage to record live audio (live meeting setting). I don't see anything in the Help or Index that says a microphone can be used. Do the program permit this? Or is it only MS MediaPlayer has this ability. I'd like to record more than 60 seconds at a time. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks rdhsjh |

Hello Fox,
Thanks for the quick reply and suggestion. I have downloaded the program and working with it right now. It's perfect for what I need. Do you have any tips for using it or just learn as I go. I be using for real this afternoon and have high hopes! Thanks again. rdhsjh |

Nothing huge...it's pretty simple to use. My only suggestion is that you save the wave file first- it doesn't save in MP3 format natively, you'll need to find the DLL from winamp or some other encoder for it to do that.
My only other advice is that you record and play back a sample first before setting off to record your meeting. If the microphone's set too low, you might not catch everything. If it's too high, it'll sound garbled and distorted. A few minutes in a quiet room should be enough to set the volumes right- just use the little sliders at the top of the screen. The one's for output, the other for input. As long as you have a decent amount of hard drive space- I'd say at least 200 megabytes for an hour long meeting- you should be fine. If it says you don't have enough space to save it, save in ogg format so that you don't lose it. Then you can find the codec for mp3 if you'd rather store it that way. |
