how to stop mouse from waking up standby
I've got a new PC, and I'm running into an ancient problem - when I go into standby, any accidental mouse movement will wake up the system. How do I stop this? This doesn't happen on my laptop, so I never had to deal with it until now.
BTW I'm using an old PS2 wheel mouse (not optical). |

Hello and Welcome to TSF
Open the Mouse Programming properties, click Hardware> Properties> Power Management, and then un-check the "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" check box.

It's less than a week old. It's a top of the line Shuttle XPC. Are you sure the age of a PC has anything to do with it? I have never seen this option on any PC.
And yes I have all 5 of those tabs. None of those tabs have the "Allow this device..." check box. |

In the Mouse Properties, click the Hardware tab, highlight your device and click properties then click the power management tab

still not there
I don't get it... I searched everywhere, this option simply doesn't exist.
So now the question is, why isn't it there on my brand spanking new system? Is there something I need to install from the XP cd, an extra goodie perhaps? |

tummypony86 's post explains it. You should be able to find it there. not control panel. go to your device manager [ right click to my computer - properties- hardware - device manager ]. I think thats where you are lost. I tested over 10 computers now ( since this thread was 1st posted) and it always was there. ( might be a giant coinsidence if an exception exists)
