My Computer locks up or reboots at random

Hello everyone,

I've had a recurring problem for the last couple of months with my computer locking up completely or it just locks up then restarts. This usually happens soon after i have turned on my computer and it doesn't seem to be related to anything in particular that I'm doing. Usually I am just checking my mail or surfing the web. The problem is quite infrequent, but it's really annoying when it happens. I'm no computer boffin, but i do know that i get an error message (from microsoft online crash analysis) which says the following :

Error caused by NVIDIA Graphics Driver: No specific solution found

Problem Description

An unknown error occurred in NVIDIA Graphics Driver, created by NVIDIAŽ Corporation.

Problem Resolution

NVIDIAŽ Corporation is currently not aware of a specific solution for the problem that you reported. Below is a list of recommendations to take that may help prevent the problem from recurring.

Download and install an updated NVIDIA Graphics Driver from one of the following locations:
Windows Update
NVIDIAŽ Corporation
If an updated driver is not available, check with your computer manufacturer.
If you are running the latest version of NVIDIA Graphics Driver, please contact NVIDIAŽ Corporation for your support options.

Additional Information

If this problem continues to occur with the latest product updates for NVIDIA Graphics Driver we highly recommend you obtain assistance and troubleshooting information directly from NVIDIAŽ Corporation.
If you are not familiar with NVIDIA Graphics Driver and you are questioning how the program was installed on your computer, it is possible that the program was installed with another program. If you do not know why NVIDIA Graphics Driver is running, many programs configure themselves to start automatically every time you turn on your computer

I have visted this NVIDIA site before and I'm quite frankly at a loss as to what I need to download. I'm also not convinced that this is the problem (I'm never playing games when the computer crashes).

Anyway below is my HiJack log file. Maybe there is someone out there who can explain the mystery. Any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers All!

Mike

OK, lets try this: right click on your desktop, click properties, click the settings tab, click advanced, click the adapter tab. It should have a picture of a computer chip and text starting with NVIDIA. Use the title of that here: http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp to help you find the driver. For example if it said GeForce4 MX Integrated CPU on the NVIDIA site link i gave you, you would click graphics drivers > Geforce and TNT2 and select your OS. You would do the same thing if you had a different graphics card but choose the correct graphics card at that link. BTW You dont need to be playing a game with heavy graphics for graphics drivers to give your computer problems. Also, after installing your graphics drivers and restarting you may have extremely low colors and resolution, dont worry, just right click on the desktop, click settings, adjust your resolution and color and restart.
