Fast User Switching Issue
Message:
I have a problem using my Windows XP 'Fast User Switching' feature; everytime I connect to the internet [dial-up] and then attempt to switch users I lose my internet connection every time.......I suspect that perhaps the problem is w/ my ISP's [PeoplePC] proprietary software, because previously when I used the Dial Up Networking [DUN]feature in Windows XP w/ my former ISP, the 'Fast User Switching' feature worked just fine and no disconnects, however I MUST use PeoplePC's proprietary software [Version 6.1] included on their setup cd to connect and surf the net. I am not able to connect by simply using Windows XP Dial Up Networking, which would resolve the issue. Here's one for you tech gurus.........any help would be much appreciated!!!!!! |

hello and welcome to techsupportforum.
please post a question in one area only. i have put your other two identical posts in the trash. if you aren't sure which is the best section for a particular question, just pick which one seems best, if it's in the wrong spot, we will move it for you.

As you said, it's most likely because their proprietary software is not configured correctly in order to make use of the "Fast User Switching" feature. Are you sure you MUST use their software? I remember back in the day when I had MSN they said I "had to use their software" when I actually didn't, I just used the dialer. They emailed me and expressed a small amount of annoyance (who knows why), but it made no difference, I still didn't use their software.
Short of being able to not use their software, i'd suggest calling them and asking if they know a way around it.
