Strange problem with constant rebooting

I'm so lost on what to do with my computer.

I turned it off for a storm last night (I usually leave it on for days at a time, though that's likely to be a big mistake) and when I went to turn it on this morning, it didn't quite work. It reaches the Windows XP loading screen, then returns to the beginning of its boot. It's stuck in a cycle.

I left it alone, hoping that maybe it would work itself out, and all that it managed to do was reboot itself for two hours straight. I've turned it off several times, and it only does the same thing. Is there anything I can do to stop this madness?

Sure. As it's booting up repeatedly press "F8"
You will soon see a screen with several options.
Choose start in "Safe Mode"
Your computer will let you log in, then will prompt you 2 choices.
Do you want to continue in safe mode or use system restore?
Choose "System restore"
Here is what it will look like.
Select "Restore my computer to an earlier time"
Select a date thats that is prior to your computer going haywire(such as a few days ago)
Click Next and follow the instructions.

Hmm, unfortunately it won't let me log in with safe mode either. I can get as far as the screen that gives me the safe mode options, but as soon as I choose it just goes right back into the loop again.

Did you make any hardware changes to your system? Was it dropped, kicked, smashed, or otherwise exposed to physical harm? Does it make unusual beeping sounds anytime during the process?

When you hit the F8 key and it brings up the startup options screen, instead of selecting safe mode, select "Disable Automatic Reboot On System Failure". This should allow you to boot up into Windows and run any utilities that you may have.

If this doesn't work, and you're not intimidated by the inside of a computer, I'd suggest opening the case, checking that nothing is knocked out of place, checking that the case is properly grounded, and then retrying.

Be sure to let us know when and how the problem is resolved.

EDIT: If the above doesn't help any, and you can get into Safe Mode with command prompt, you can run system restore throught he command prompt. Just boot into it and run the following command: %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

Sounds like your os IS DAMAGED,
boot off your cd-rom,just like you where going to reinstall the OS.
but choose repair instead.
