Suprised Annoying MS-DOS files in C:

Hello All,

I am currently having annoying problems as you have read from the title.
There are 11 MS-DOS files that keep returning in C: as hidden whenever I have tried to delete them.

I have got one of the files by accepting a file over MSN. I really shouldn't have unless it anything other than .exe, .com, .pif,

So I'm asking, how can I permanently remove these from my system?

I've tried going through Safe Mode and attempted to delete them but with no luck.

My ZoneAlarm had asked me before of letting FormatSys.exe have access. I said "NO!!"

This really sucks. I have to keep these files hidden on C: because I don't want to get mee head blasted from my father.

I've included a picture of the problem.

That totally looks like spyware. Have you tried running a spyware check?

No, not yet.

What makes you say it is spyware?

I've done a Spyware and Malware Scan but came to nothing that was related to the problem I had.

I'll never be able to remove these from my system.

Deleting these files will prove fruitless; they will just come back, dos or not.

Most are part of W32.Serflog.A, a file-sharing/msn messenger type worm virus.

run an online virus scan at TrendMicro or RAV Antivirus.
Please select the autoclean option when using Trend Micro.

Then get HijackThis . This program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Run the scan, save the log, but do not fix anything yet. Many files it finds are harmless, and required for your system to operate.

Post your log in a new thread in the HijackThis Log Help forum. This our dedicated spyware/virus forum. One of the expert analysts there will look over your log and assist you. Please include a brief description of the problem you are having and what you have done to fix it so far.

I cannot get to any websites or webpages on the internet that seems to be related to Internet Security and the Online Anti-Virus Scanner you were talking about because the Internet Browser just closes.

How bad is this?

What can I do?

Go to the security forum and read all the stickies and general infos - and then follow the instructions of the security team - they are awesome and will help you.

Hello, I was afraid that might happen.

If you skip the virus scanner instructions and just follow the rest someone in the security forum will analyse your log and work on removing the security site restrictions.
