Problems with sound and ''pci input''
Hi everyone. Ive investigated some other forums with no explanation for my problem. So i came over here to try my luck. (pardon my bad english)
I have win xp sp1. The original sound card is integrated in the motherboard and it started going funny on me. I had a sound blaster 5.1 (working fine) from my old computer. So i decided to put it on this one instead. I followed the proper procedures: ground myself to handle the sound card, disabled the onboard one, instaled the sb, and voila. No problem at all, worked great. This was a month ago. Yesterday the sound card was working fine. But i kept receiving a hardware wizard thing asking me for PCI INPUT drivers. Only started happening yesterday. I completely ignored it. I use programs such as audacity and sound forge. The volume was down, even tho the speakers where on high volume. So i went to the master volume of windows and the following message appeared ''there are no mixing devices available...etc'' But sound was still playing... So i opened sound forge and clicked ''transport'' (To record from my mini studio) into the computer and it says something similar to there are no mixing devices available. I figured maybe reinstalling the sound blaster drivers could do, so i did. But once reinstalled no more sound came out of the speakers lol. the windows media player started giving error as well. So then i thought maybe i had to take care of that PCI INPUT thing first. I went to hp website and downloaded the original chipset and drivers that came with my pc when i bought it, but the PCI input wizard software did not accept such drivers. I badly needed to record some stuff into the computer, so as a last resort i decided to format. I put some old files which i needed into a cd. And also removed the sound blaster. I made the format, and on a fresh brand new windows, the cd drives did not read or accept any cds... everytime i tried the following error: d: not accessible, incorrect function. The pci input thing started popping up again. But i decided to install the sound blaster to start with. turned off the pc, grounded myself, put the sound blaster in (i made sure it was properlly fited), when i turned the pc on there was a wizard for the sound blaster, i installed it. But still no sound lol, plus when i installed and clicked on the ''line in'' functions of audacity, and sound forge, the computer crashed! :( Im really getting browned off with this problem. Is it something im doing wrong? ![]() Thanks in advance for your patience, joe Last edited by Pirata; 11-27-2009 at 08:04 PM. |
