Windows update screwup
I just recently downloaded some of the optional updates for Windows XP from Windows Update (such as IDT, I used to have SigmaTel). After I did that all sorts of problems started appearing again on my PC (details here:http://www.techsupportforum.com/netw...s-failing.html). While an SFC repair fixed the problem last time, this time it doesn't seem to help.
Update history (the recent ones): Update for Windows XP (KB976098) Windows XP Update for Windows XP (KB973687) Windows XP Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB973688) Windows XP Update for Windows XP (KB971513) Windows XP Update for Internet Explorer 8 Compatibility View List for Windows XP (KB975364) Windows XP Update for Root Certificates [September 2009] (KB931125) Windows XP Windows PowerShell 1.0 for Windows XP (KB926139) Windows XP IDT - Audio - IDT High Definition Audio CODEC Windows XP ZyXEL - Networking - G-302 v3 802.11g Wireless PCI Adapter Any ideas? PS: I have SP3 but my XP disk has SP2. Does that affect SFC? |
