OS: XP Home sP3

Unable to boot XP Home

Hi! I’ve got a laptop Dell Inspiron 9300 with 1GB RAM, running Windows XP Home SP3, and today I’ve seen the infamous BSOD for the first time in the computer’s life. I was playing a Nancy Drew game and suddenly the computer froze with the following message: STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC00000005, 0x86EE469B, 0xF78BDBE0, 0xF78BD8DC). Any attempts at restarting the OS have been unsuccessful, even in safe mode, where the loading of drivers stops with d347bus.sys and a completely black screen. I must say the computer had some issues with the screen before (a few color vertical lines over the screen, a problem common to this model) but has been working fine otherwise. And yes, I have daemon tools installed, for over two years without trouble. Does anyone have a clue about what the problem might be and a possible solution? I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

OS: windows XP pro service pack 3

Re: Unable to boot XP Home

i have windows XP service pack 3 and i have had a similar problem also .i went to boot up my computer and all it showed was the black screen that says windows XP but then mine goes to a blue screen that says stop and that there was a problem starting it up.i cant remember exactly what it said.it says start it up in safe mode and a few other things too but nothing i did worked.the only thing i can do is play around with the configurations when u press F12 but thats it.i was on here reading posts last night and someone else had the same problem and they said they took it to a shop for repairs and the problem was the hard drive was shot.im not for sure if this is the same problem or not but if it is a new hardrive is anywhere from $52.00 and up.

@ anantune

Windows Advanced Options Menu
Getting into Windows Safe Mode
http://www.computerhope.com/issues/chsafe.htm

Choose "Last known good configuration that worked", and press the Enter key. The computer will attempt to load Windows.
If Windows does not start, try the same thing again .... and continue trying for 10 times, before you rule that option out as a means of getting your OS up and running again, normally.
Why 10 times? Based on past experience, a successful result is sometimes achieved after several consecutive failed attempts.
