blue screen safe mode boot loop!
Here's the story:
---Computer running windows XP got a virus. ---Was going to run a program that needed to run in Safe Mode ---When I booted in safe mode I got a blue screen ---I (stupidly) changed the settings so that the computer automatically booted into safe mode thinking that would change something. Now I can't boot into windows! The computer automatically boots to safe mode and I always get a blue screen (error: 0X0000007b, 0Xf7c7B524, 0XC0000034, lots of 0's) Question: How do I change my settings to NOT automatically boot to safe mode without accessing windows! I can't get back to MSCONFIG and know no other way to turn off the automatic safe-mode boot option. Ughhhhh, I wish I hadn't done that! Please help me! |

Problems that can occur by forcing Safe Mode using the System Configuration Utility http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tuto...force_safemode Otherwise, use a LIVE CD ... Download Puppy Linux (105MB) http://www.puppylinux.org/ When you have Puppy Linux burned to a CD, boot from the CD. Load Puppy Linux into memory and use as a LIVE CD operating system: Do not install. Navigate to C:\Boot.ini Open the file: It is simply a text file, so use a text editor within Puppy Linux to open the file. Delete the following switch: /safeboot:minimal Save the file and close it. Exit Puppy Linux and remove the CD. Start your Windows system normally. (If in any doubt, copy the content of the boot.ini file and post it here.)

Re: blue screen safe mode boot loop!
Never mind, I found the boot.ini file (I couldn't find it at first)! Thank you for that very helpful and quick response AustrAlien!
