low formating hardrive

I have a hard drive I would like to save.

I installed a program few months ago and bam it shut down my computer and i couldn't even format.
Western Digital 30 gig
MDL WD300BB-00AUA1

I never low formatted before and would like to give it a try.

I tried changing slave and master but it still would not format. It would load xp pro and when copying files said no drive.. If I remember correctly.

Could someone please find the file i need and alittle explanation on how to?

Would be very appreciated :)

I googled on it and not sure if I found right file or how its done.

Re: low formating hardrive

I think low level formats can only be done at the manufacturer before the product is sold.

Re: low formating hardrive

Here is a link to the support page for your drive.
Run the data lifeguard diagnostic and make sure that the drive is a good one.
