Missing Network Connections

So on the computer I am using now... The network connections area looks like this

But the one that I want to use that i just re-installed windows XP looks like this

I am using a DsL internet connection that is just basically plug-and-play. Internet has worked before on that computer before.

Have you checked in device manager to see that your ethernet drivers are installed and enabled. rightclick my computer and select properties from the menu nad oen the hardware tab then click on device manager. You should have an entry called network adapters.

And if it doesn't exist how would I install it?

Use the pc you are posting with to download the driver . . copy to flash drive or CD and install on the other pc.

In Device Manager . . what is shown with a yellow ! or marked as "Unknown"?

Goto your computer manufacturers website and download the LAN driver for your computer.
