how to add / remove icons from tray

windows xp, SP2

How can I add or remove icons to the tray , whic is on the right side of the bar where "start" button is there ?

whats the name of the bar , on which "start" button is ?

Quick Launch Bar. Right click a blank space in the QL bar and choose Open Folder. Drop any program shortcuts into this window that you want to be in the QL bar.

thanks. What you are saying is about the icons on the left side on the task bar right besides the start button. What I am asking is about the icons on the tray on the right side of the task bar besided the clock. How to add icons to this tray ?

Unknowingly I increased the height of the task bar. Now I cant get it back to the normal height. How can I reduce the height of task bar ?

Those are things that start up with the PC.
Your antivirus, firewall & printer etc.
You can add things into the "Start up Folder", but that will slow your PC start up time.
What do you want to add there?

I can see startUp folder in following path
"C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Start Menu\Programs\Startup"

Is this the startUp folder where all the icons on the right side of the taskbar are kept ? when I checked this folder , its empty. So where are all the existing icons ? Are they hidden ?Is this the folder, where I can add icons ?
