Hi There!
I've been having a problem with my computer for 5 months now. The problem is that the PC sometimes freeze by itself. It could be when Im playing a game, watching a video, reading my mail or not doing anything at all. This can happen directly after I put the PC on (5 mins) and up to a week. I will now describe different problems that somehow got a connections with this: 1. There's a chance that the PC will start up strange, 50% starts normal, 45% starts unnormal with a sound from the computer doing 3 beeps and then I just get a completly black screen and nothing is working at all. Only option is to hold down the On/off button of the PC to shut it down. 5% chance that it starts unnormal with a long beeptone that doesn't end (Shut down is the only option) and the PC-fan + processor isnt even running. 2. When I put the PC into stand by mode it restarts directly afterwards (20% chance). 80% chance that when it restarts it just continues with a high volume of the fan and CPU going on forever. Shut-down is the only option. 3. PC freezes with the sound going on for 5 secs and starts to shoot soundclips like shots and then sometimes restarts by itself or I have to restart it by holding the on/off button. My PC Components and info: Desktop computer System: Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3 Produced and supported by: Packard Bell Processor/CPU: Intel(R) Pentium (R) D CPU 3.00GHz 2.99 GHZ, 2,00 GB RAM. HDD: 37,7 GB (10,1 GB used) data (D:): 195 GB (29,3 GB used) Cardinfo: PCB: NVIDIA GeForce 7300 SE/7200 GS DAC-model: Integrated RAMDAC Memorysize: 512 MB BIOS-info: Version 5.72.22.46.21 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- What I've been doing to solve the problem: I tested the PC's Hard Drives with HD Tune. Results: No errors found! I made a memory test with Memtest86. Used CD-RW disk to create disk, booted PC and did the test. Result: 0 Errors Found. I've been cleaning dusts inside the computer. Made the computer sound a little bit less but the errors was still remaining. Used Ad-Aware to remove spyware tools. Found 28 infections and all were deleted. PC problem NOT solved. I ran a Anivirus check with AVG-Antivirus and found 1 trojan horse infected at C:\WINDOWS\system32\WindUpdate.exe. Not solved. I Optimized PC with recommendations from TuneUp Utilities 2009 for best performance. Not solved. I ran a Registry Cleaning Test with Regcure. 2148 Problems found and all corrected but the problem is still remaining. I am Defragging the PC daily with Uniblue DiskRescue. Not solved the problem. I've installed unneccessary programs that I had with Revo Uninstaller, deleted old deleted files data from system. Not solved. Used CCleaner to delete unneccessary info and such. Not solved problem. If you have further questions about these tests and system info I am ready to explain everything. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I really need help this computerproblem because as a student I've been working with some forms, typed down notes at Office Words 2007 and been working with Powerpoint. Suddenly the PC just erstarts by itself and it's very really annoying because all my work just erases away. Please Help me with this if you know how to solve it. Thanks in advance, Adeon |

BUMP!
I reinstalled my Windows XP with my backup CD. My PC got a small PC boost but 'm still stuck with the restart/freeze or whatever you call it. Seems like the PC gets freezed in all random ways now. During the install or the so called backup my PC got the 3 beep tone at almost 60% of the restarts my PC needed to do. Also Got stuck, a freeze, during an extract from the CD to PC for Windows XP installation. Today I got 2 warnings after opening my pc. I opened PC, went to get something to eat. When I came back I saw a blue error screen message. "Your system has been shut down to prevent damage" or something like that. So I restarted PC, started the program windows media player to listen to some music. I listened to a song for 1 min and then the music got stuck in 1 tone like a woodpecker hitting the tree. I had the same error message again. PC also restarted with the Loop sound of fan when I was playing a really small game that doesnt require that much energy from my PC. Please help me, It's driving me crazy! Yours, Adeon |

Re: Computer Freezing Issue (+ other realated problems)
I'm having the same sort of problems with a dell vostro 1700 laptop... Now it won't reboot at all.. I'm waiting for it to cool. How fragmented is your had drive? Mine is way fragmented, but it's mostly empty.. weird...I'm hoping that when it cools, it will boot up again.
I think it's a heating issue.. I've seen it before on some laptops I have... Is your fan running OK? |

Re: Computer Freezing Issue (+ other realated problems)
Might be a component sitting loose? <<<?
Yesterday I was going to start the PC and... The fan kept on going but there were no boot. I restarted the PC like 40 times when I got mad and lifted the pc, dropped it and hit it 3 times with my fist at the side. Then I put it on and guess what... It worked! Now I know it was not a good idea to smash the computer like that because of the small components. But however today I did the same thing... almost. I tried to start it 10 Time and I started to smash it again. Now instead of a boot without anything I got the 3-beep problem. I tried like 10 times again (with 3-beep) and PC was started normally. Now... Was that just luck? Or is there something sitting bad connected? |
