XP Pro and Raid 0

Hello,
I am trying to reformat two WD HD's set up in a Raid 0. I (failing to remember my earlier computer days) did not back up my data, and reformated the 300G Maxtor I had set up as the storage drive instead (yes, all is lost, and there are several broken items in my computer room after I realized what I had done)

Now where was I, oh yes, the Raid 0 and XP Pro. Here's what I've done so far (and by the way, when the computer starts up, and I'm at the desktop, I don't have the CDRom or CD-RW drives...what fun???)

First try:
I put the XP disk into my CD-ROM drive
Started the computer
Pressed F8 for the boot sequence
Selected the CD-ROM that held the XP disk
Let it run
Loaded up XP onto the wrong drive (Maxtor drive)

Result: Realizing what I had done, I subsequently cried like a baby and destroyed a couple of things in my computer room.

Second try:
I unplugged the Maxtor drive I mistakenly installed XP on
Put the XP disk into my CD-ROM drive
Started the computer
Pressed F8 for the boot sequence
Selected the CD-ROM that held the XP disk
Let it run
Got the message that indicated "Windows did not detect any hard drives attached..."

Result: Sat there with a dumbfounded look on my face and realized I needed help

So, here I am, hoping you can help me.

Here is what I have:
XP Pro SP1 disc
Raid drivers on a floppy
ASUS Mobo
and, oh yes ... the dumbfounded look on my face (I'm over the loss of unretrievable pictures of family, friends, and dogs.)

Your help is much appreciated so that I can humbly and sheepishly move past this.

Thanks!

Re: XP Pro and Raid 0

You likely just need to install the RAID drivers during bootup.

Here is a guide I found with a quick search: http://www.duxcw.com/digest/Howto/mb...-333/raid1.htm
