problems with xp

Hi, a friend of mine is having problems with her xp, and we have no idea what to do so we are just going to reset it. I am not sure how to do this though, she has a dell and I have only ever done it on my toshiba. I know that she has to hit a button while the computer restarts but I am not sure which one. I am sorry for such a silly question but we called dell and they want $59 just to help us. Thanks buckets :)

Re: problems with xp

When the Dell splash screen appears during the computer startup process, press and hold <Ctrl> and then press <F11>. Then, release both keys at the same time.

Re: problems with xp

I think you need to press "Ctrl + F11 or it maybe F7" during boot and it should give you a menu. Also I would check this link: http://www.fixya.com/support/t294881-u_reset_dell_computer_back_factory

Re: problems with xp

If you have the Dell System restore you can use that and you will not need a install CD

http://support.dell.com/support/topi...g=&toggle=&dl=

If not, You can get a reinstallation guide specific to your Dell here
http://support.dell.com/support/topi...n&s=dhs&~ck=mn

This is a great guide for reinstalling on a Dell: http://www.djdenham.com/Install%20Procedures.htm

You can request a replacement instalation cd here:
