Disk Cleanup is now frozen.
Being a newbee, I do hope I'm in the right place for this post.
I originally found this forum searching for a solution to SP3 freezing during installation. One of the first things to perform was a scan disk I believe. Perhaps I was mistaken, but I thought disk cleanup was the same thing, or close, and began the utility. It started to search to see what could be disposed of and then hung (the little progress bar stopped moving). I closed the program after noticing and then tried again. While the program opens, the progress bar is stuck in the same position each time. I've even tried to run it from safe mode with the same result. Windows XP Pro All critcal updates including SP3 Dell Dimension 3000 Pentium 4 3.0 1 Gig RAM Hard drive 75% full 80 Gig Thanks for your time, effort and interest. |

Re: Disk Cleanup is now frozen.
sounds like a very minor problem to me.....I would recommend an alternate cleaning program called Crap Cleaner its a free download and will clean junk and temporary files out for you ....
some on this forum do not like crap cleaner but I think it is safe...never given me a problem from use yet... |

Re: Disk Cleanup is now frozen.
Most of us have no problem with ccleaner. We have a problem with the registry cleaner side of the program because using programs to modify the registry can be dangerous.
Disk cleanup can take a while to run, depending on the speed of the PC and the amount of things the disk cleanup wants to do it can take upwards of 30 minutes. If you haven't let it run, try leaving it alone for a while and see if it completes.

Re: Disk Cleanup is now frozen.
Thanks... I have CCleaner and do use it to clear the caches from time to time. When I leave today, I'll let the disk clean up utility on and see if it clears.
