Disk Defragmenter could not start
A friend suggested that i defrag because the pc was running kinda slow and i know its a been a while maybe years since i last did one. So i tried to run it and shows 15% free on c: and 17% on my External. I ran it on my C: and it said it "Disk Defragmenter could not start". So i tried it on my External and it started to Run. So can anyone explain why it could not Run on my C: ?

Re: Disk Defragmenter could not start
do a disk cleanup on C first your drives are at capacity, you need a min of 15% free or you will have problems running it and are likely to loose access to the drives if not enough free space is left

Yes, as dai said, you might need a little bit free more space to start Disk Defragmenter on C:

Re: Disk Defragmenter could not start
You could try running the defragmenter in Safe mode.

Re: Disk Defragmenter could not start
Could you please check what make/model is your HDD???
Visit manufacturers Web Site, download diagnostic tools and test your HDD for possible bad or slow sectors... As you have mentioned before, your HDD is old and might be bad... |

Re: Disk Defragmenter could not start
Are you able to open one side of the case and to check what make/model is your HDD???
Than download diagnostic tools from manufacturers Web Site... If you cannot do that, download MHDD 4.6: http://hddguru.com/content/en/software/2005.10.02-MHDD/ Instructions are on Web Site... Test your HDD... Maybe system is very unstable which does not let you do Disk Defragmentation, or your HDD could be bad... |

Re: Disk Defragmenter could not start
Im not quite sure what to do for MHDD, instructions are not there including inside theFAQ, can you give me a detailed run down of what to do.
Also my browsers (Chrome,Mozilla) have been getting redirected constantly when i do a simple yahoo or google search and click on a result. When i Scan with Malwarebytes im not getting anything but adware live detects malicious processes in the background. |

Re: Disk Defragmenter could not start
Hello...
Under MHDD Documentation, you have explanations in details: http://hddguru.com/content/en/softwa...manual.en.html First you need to download an .iso file and burn it on CD. You will make a bootable CD with which you will scan your HDD... Keep us posted... |

Re: Disk Defragmenter could not start
Dude none of that is working for me. for some reason it wouldn't boot from the Disc so i tried Floppy. I typed Scan it did something for like 2 secs, then showed me "MHDD"> in blue letters.
Since all you want to know is the model i guess this is what i got from the device manager under disk drivers "WDC WD600BB-75CAA0" I believe its a Western Digital and that's all i can basically give |

Re: Disk Defragmenter could not start
Those kind of redirects are often linked to malware.
