Virus disables Automatic Updates

Recently, my computer was infected with a virus that disables my Windows Automatic Updates. I have Symantec Anti virus which does find this virus which turns out to be a device driver of some sort. Symantec requires a reboot after "deleting" the file however upon reboot and once windows starts, the virus remains and Symantec's automatic alert tells me of the problem. It seems that the virus never goes away. I still can't turn on automatic updates no matter what I do. I've tried going into Start/Run/regsvr32 to fix the problem but even then I cannot enable automatic updates. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Virus disables Automatic Updates

Hi there

Welcome to TSF

I recommend that you follow our 5 Step process outlined here:

IMPORTANT - Read This Before Posting For Malware Removal Help

After running through all the steps, please post the requested logs in the HijackThis Log Help section of the forum (Not in here)

If you have trouble with one of the steps, simply move on to the next one, and make note of it in your reply.

Please note that the Security Forum is always busy, so I would ask for your patience while waiting for a reply from a helper - it may take a few days.

Regards..
