Server busy

My computer is running very slow especially when I boot up. It takes forever and then I get a "SERVER BUSY" error and a message telling me to "SWITCH TO" or "RETRY" because the action cannot be completed because the server is busy. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Re: Server busy

Try Start, Run, msconfig and stop unnecessary startup apps; in your browser, clean out History, Cache and Cookies.

Re: Server busy

Thanks. When I am in msconfig I go into the start up tab and see a lot of checked boxes next to a number of apps in the C drive Program. I am not sure what are the unnecessary startup apps and which need to be checked.

Re: Server busy

Sorry, can't answer that for you without knowing what actually starts up, and what you need when you do start. If your machine is really bad when you fire it up, there are probably several startup programs you can stop and then start manually when you need them. A careful, close look should enable you to figure out what you don't need at startup. Try Googling apps about which you're not sure.

Hi marranomf

Came across "I was looking for it so I thought I would post it" dated 11-08-2002. Doonz.

You might find it just a drop in the ocean but every one makes a puddle.
