3 physical drives showing up as 6
Ok i bought three drives 750 gigs a piece for storage.
When installing the drives everything seamed to go well i had to use compmgmt.msc to get the drives to show up. As i was noticing i suddenly had three additional drives that i had no idea where they came from The original drives: Storage 1 (X:) Storage 2 (Y:) Storage 3 (Z:) Mysterious Drives: Storage 1 (K:) Storage 2 (F:) Storage 3 (E:) Where did these drives come from? I went into the registry and foud the drives in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MOUNTED DEVICES I deleted the drives K F E and than restarted, they came back. When i delete the values in the key numbers for K F E and attempt to open any drive it sends me to the explorer directed at my documents Can anyone help me, this is irritating me. I dont want these extra drives around. a few other notes. They dont show up in compmgmt.msc (The fake ones that is) |

Re: 3 physical drives showing up as 6
Ok so can someone explain to me why a Layout: partition / Type: Basic woudl not show a imaginary drive and a Layout: Simple / Type: Dynamic would display the imaginary drive??
Long story short i managed to get one of the imaginary drives to disapear by taking the files and cramming it on other drives than deleting partions, and reconfiguring the drive to a partitioned/basic drive rather simple/dynamic. What are the differences advantages / disadvantages? |
