Hi,
I just formatted my HDD and reinstalled xp pro and all my programs and printers etc. Now I have 3 pc's on a home network. 2 are hard wired 1 is wireless. Since the new installation, the 2nd pc that is hard wired cannot print to the shared printer. Prior to new installation, that pc used to be slow to print but it did print. Now, it finds the printer on the network etc but when I go to print, the printer box pops up and goes through the motions untils it says "Ready to Print" but nothing happens. Any suggestions as to where I start to look. BTW, the lappy prints fine on wireless. The printer is connected to my pc which I just did the fresh install on. The problem pc is my wife's pc also running xp pro. It has found the network printer but won't print. The problem pc was able to print prior to my fresh install although it was slow. This pc is hard wired to the lan |

Re: Printing to shared printer very slow
Hello lightermanau,
things i like to ask 1 when was the last time you cleaned the insides of the tower /case ? 2 do you use an active spyware program ? 3 do you use a registry cleaner ? 4 do you do updates from the windows updates site / do you use the custom scanner & not the express scanner ? 5 how often do you defrag ? 6 how often do you use disk cleanup? also check this now what i need you to do is go to your (device manager) now once there you will want to select from the toolbar of the window(veiw) then a drop down menu / from it you will select (show all hidden devices) now if you see any (red or yellow) quotation marks , make a note of what they now go to the (event veiwer) this is thru the (administrator tools) in the control panel here you will find 3 to 4 subcatagories you will want to check each of them for this is where windows keeps track of all errors now you will want to make notes of the errors that have been recorded ( you do not have to make notes of double entries just of the dates of their happenings & how many there is) you will get more information on the errors if you (right) click them / then select properties then get back to us Mike |

Re: Printing to shared printer very slow
Hello lightermau,
nice , but here at TSF we do not recommend useing registry cleaners for most of them will cause programs to malfuntion a program we do recommend is (C-Cleaner)to wich has a mild registry cleaner in it but we leave that up to the user / it is a freeware program also / you would need to read the instructions on how to use it & it is very user freindly now because you do use a cleaner what you may have to do is re sync the system to the printer by removing it & then reinstalling the connection to it or recalibrating it back to the printer after the removel after your system has rereconnizesd the printer now this may not be the case with this situation also i would recommend that you go to the windows update site for you will get more updates doing a scan that will halp your system greatly & your shared network as in (.netframework 2.0 & its service pks ) & windows based drivers & security patchs then check your printers performance |

Re: Printing to shared printer very slow
Have done all of the above. OK here is the latest.
1) PC with fresh install has 2 printers (a) Canon i865 bubble jet (b) Canon LBP 3000 laser 2) Problem pc prints to the i865 in 15 seconds 3) Problem pc prints to LBP 3000 in 1.5 minutes Have deleted printer from printers and faxes and reinstalled it. Have checked all settings, have all the latest drivers, have all the lates XP updates etc etc but still cannot get it to print any faster. :( |

Re: Printing to shared printer very slow
Hello ,
I am not sure for printers you should post in the section of this site for (Printers & Networking) issues I do not want to give you the wrong advice concerning you printer or network but since it is only this one printer this is what i beleive Mike |
