Hardware Malfunction BSOD
I seem to be getting this a lot. I replaced my PSU hoping that would do something (it's a stupid thought, but I was hopeful XD). The BSOD says exactly this:
*** Hardware Malfunction Call your hardware vendor for support *** The system has halted *** There's no stop message or anything. I just got a BSOD saying BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER ***STOP 0x000000FE (0x00000005, 0x86FCD0E0, 0x11063038, 0x86CCF7F0) I don't know if they're related. With the USB one, the only USB thing I have plugged in are my USB mouse, which hasn't been having any issues. Mainly, I want to fix the Hardware malfunction BSOD, because I get it more often, but I know it will be hard to fix. |

Re: Hardware Malfunction BSOD
Well I've only had the BUGCODE one once, so I'm not sure. But I believe I do have a ps/2 mouse that I could try in my system to see if it fixes anything. Also, the mouse does have issues with the scroll thing in the middle, but I think it may be a hardware issue with it.

Re: Hardware Malfunction BSOD
Oh, and it shouldn't be the hard drive or the RAM, since I've used diagnostics on each of them and none of them seemed bad. I'm guessing it could be my PCI card for wireless internet, my graphics card, or the processor. I'm not sure though.

Re: Hardware Malfunction BSOD
Hello ,
now what i need to do is go to your (device manager) now once there you will want to select from the toolbar of the window(veiw) then a drop down menu / from it you will select (show all hidden devices) now if you see any (red or yellow) quotation marks , make a note of what they now go to the (event veiwer) this is thru the (administrator tools) in the control panel here you will find 3 to 4 subcatagories you will want to check each of them for this is where windows keeps track of all errors now you will want to make notes of the errors that have been recorded ( you do not have to make notes of double entries just of the dates of their happenings & how many there is) you will get more information on the errors if you (right) click them / then select properties then get back to us Mike |

Re: Hardware Malfunction BSOD
Ok, in the device manager after I showed the hidden devices, there is a red x on the "VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter," under the Network Adapter heading; I don't think I've ever used it. There is a yellow exclamation next to "Parport" and "Serial" under the Non Plug-and-Play Drivers heading, and the same on "AJSY29GE IDE Controller" under SCSI and RAID controllers.
In the event viewer, the only errors or warnings I get are for Dhcp, which I seem to get a lot. They all seem to be about not getting internet basically, or not renewing my network address. The Dhcp error/warning I haven't had for the past 3 or 4 days, but when I did have it 2 or 3 times a day. There is also one error about too many TCP/IP connections. In the Application tab, I keep getting an error that says "Can not find Ping Info." I've Googled this, but I didn't get into much searching and kind of gave up. It didn't seem to be bothering me. I can put more detail into these if you want me to. |
