My windows xp sp3 is going to standby mode randomly .
Here are some interesting things i have observed: 1.it is able to go to standy during the start of the pc session . 2. at other times, it does not respond to standby command mostly. things i have tried : 1. scanned the pc for viruses and spywares . 2. created a shortcut fot standby on desktop (shortcut link:"%windir%\System32\rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState) 3. ran system file checker 3. tried replacing the powrprof.dll file by downloaing it from the net (interestingly that downloaded dll file is of size 14 kb ; but when I try to substitute the old one with that; it revets back to the old file size of 17 kb) I have a feeling that there is some malware or svc which is causing the issue;but am not : able to pin point the exact cause. 4-dontkno Any suggestione wud be welcomed ; thanx |

Re: xp pc going to standby randomly
I have found the resolution . Actuall my Bitlord bit torrent application had a setting , not to let the pc be in suspended mode while it was running.Once I modified the option,
I am able to go to 'standby' mode normally now. (Guess things are not complex as we sometimes comprehend) ! |
