Re: computer freezes
Well done!
Lets do a quick check to make sure nasty norton has gone. 1.Start > search > all files and folders in my computer > type Symantec into the search box > click search and tell me if it finds anything. 2.Next, go to add/remove programs and remove the following resource hogging software. I can provide links to alternative, smaller programs to replace anything you use on a regular basis. For instance, a pdf reader is a must on most computers. I use Foxit Reader, it is much smaller than Acrobat and you hardly notice its there. Foxit for Windows 6. Let me know if everything seems ok now. ![]() Even after all this, your best option remains a memory upgrade. Its not expensive at all and your computer would run much better. Let me know if you want to do this and i will supply you with the info you need to do that. TTFN. ![]() Uninstall, Anything containing, Adobe Ahead software Lavasoft - Ad-Aware Service Version 7,1,0,12 Lavasoft AB - Ad-Aware Version 7.1.0.6 Lavasoft AB - Update Manager Version 1.0.0.0 Lavasoft ThreatWork Version 7.1 XPMedic Version 1.1.0.0 YourWare Solutions (TM) - FRXPRO Version 1.0.0.0 Let me know if any of these don't appear in add/remove programs list. Restart your computer. 3.Download Ccleaner Install it, run the cleaner. Note: Never use the registry cleaning part of this program, or indeed any other registry cleaners. This cleans out all your temp files and you should run it periodically, especially after a heavy surfing session. 4.If you have an XP disc, do this, Run the System File Checker: Click Start >> Run >> Type sfc /scannow (note space after sfc), then click OK. You may be asked to insert your Windows disc. If when you insert your disc, it auto starts, close it down so that you can see the command window. The process may take quite a while, be patient and wait until you see a new line which should say "C:\Documents and Settings\****> (**** being your name or computer name.) Then restart your computer. 5.Click start > all programs > accessories > system tools > Disc defragmenter. Run it, then restart your computer again.

Re: computer freezes
Hi Pat,
Click start all programs and see if either of them are listed there, sometimes that is where the uninstall option will be. If not, try this, Download Add/Remove Pro v. 2.08 to your Desktop or to your usual Download Folder. http://www.superwin.com/freeware.htm Once installed, start the program. It will show a listing similar to your Add/Remove Programs. The "ghost entries" are the ones with a red x Hilight the one for yourware, if its there and click the Remove Entry button. Click OK at the confirm prompt. Repeat for anything Adobe related, if found. Post back if this doesn't work, there are other ways.

Start > search > all files and folders in my computer > type Yourware into the search box > click search and tell me if the results show anything that says uninstall.

Re: computer freezes
I missed this one, its connected with regcure. Make sure its gone, if not remove it.
Miracle Technologies - Perfect Optimizer Version 3.1.0.10 Not sure about these two but they look a bit dubious, i would get rid of them. OBD2 TekLink 2 Version 2, 0, 2, 0 * OBD2_TekLink_Start2.0 I feel i should bring to your attention this, fairly typical, advice given in our security section. Quote:

Re: computer freezes
I got rid of Limewire and Perfect Optimizer but the OBD2 Teklink is a program my husband uses on our vehicles to compute what problems need to be fixed, especially with the engine. I hope to keep it. It came with a cd. I did't get it off the net.

Re: computer freezes
Sorry, been having some problems with my own machine.
![]() A couple of things, first of all and most important i need to make sure your windows firewall is enabled. Right cick on your internet connection icon bottom right of screen, then select "change windows firewall settings", and make sure "enabled" is selected. Next click start > run > type "msinfo32" without the quotes. A window called "System Information" will open. Top left of that window click file, then select save, change the location to desktop. Name it Sysinfo. The save as type box should say NFO, don't change it. Now you need to Zip the file. I'm guessing you don't have a program to do this so click on this link. 7zip Download and install 7zip. Next, go to your desktop and right click on the file Sysinfo, hover your pointer over 7zip and select Add to "Sysinfo.zip" The zipped file should now appear on your desktop. Next, click post reply in this thread and scroll down the page to the box which says "Manage Attachments" and click it. In the box that opens click "browse" and change the top box to desktop if not already selected. You should see the "Sysinfo.zip" file you made earlier. Click it, then click open, then click the "Upload" button at top of page. There, you should now have the zip file attached to your post. ![]() You can check this by clicking preview post and you should see it at bottom of post.

If you look at the bottom of this post, that is what should appear in your post if you follow the instructions correctly.
Try the preview post button to check before you post your reply.

Try it this way, remember how you sent the Belarc report? Right click on Sysinfo and select send to > mail recipient, and send it to my address.
