Computer very hot
My computer sometimes gets very hot, and in the past few weeks when I've been playing video games it will get so hot that it gives me this blue screen for 5 seconds, and then it shuts down.
I'm a total noob so forgive me because I have no idea what the problem here is and how to resolve it. Can anyone help? |

Re: Computer very hot
some simple stuff to do first, check and make sure all fans are working properly. open the case and make sure its dust free. make sure theres plenty of air circulation around the computer. Try running the comptuer as normal with the cover off and see if it still shuts down. If it does, then there could be other problems.

Thanks for your suggestion though. I think a can of compressed air would help. Is there anything else? Or any software even? |

Re: Computer very hot
To see the 'blue screen of death' (BSOD) without the computer restarting, go to Control Panel > System > Advanced tab > Startup & Recovery Settings button > System Failure and remove the checkmark from 'Automatically restart'. The full BSOD message and error code will help pinpoint the cause of the problem.
Are you using a cooling pad for your laptop? ![]()

And no I don't have a cooling pad, and frankly I've never heard of one. But I think I'll buy one first thing tomorrow if it helps. |
