Hello there,
I have IExplorer going nuts with as high as 756,000 on CPU usage reading... my hard drive seems to always be scanning something, being read at high velocity, which is completely not normal for my puter. Recently I contracted a trojan horse called Generic10.BCER and then called itself Generic10.BGSH (AVG calls the trojans these names I believe, but I do not know what they are called exactly... ). I made the mistake of downloading a copy of AVG 8.0 free on a torrent that was infected and upon a scan of the compressed file, nothing showed, so I unzipped and there it was. :( seems to have embedded itself in Windows32 system folder but after a few attempts at removal it seems to maybe have duplicated itself and then found a way into in System Volume information files. I completely removed the compromised AVG 8.0 deleted all files associated with it, ran Crap Cleaner, Hi-Jack This, Spybot search and Destroy and installed a clean version of AVG 8.0 direct from Grisoft. No change, trojan kept popping up randomly detected. Did the above removal and scanning process all over again and this time reinstalled my old version of AVG 7.5. Ran it again and it picked up the trojan 3 times and healed (i think) as no more detections have occurred. BUT now, my Iexplorer is running unusually fast, as in between 240,000 and 756,000 or a steady 94 to 99,000. Its just bizarre and I cannot figure out why. Plus, my computer responses to opening of programs has slowed significantly, takes too long to open a program or initial clicks on icons do not work, they are delayed. Please help! Many thanks to anyone who can guide me to fixing this stuff... ~Cristian |
