Evil no sound...HELP!

Hey Guys!

First off let me say i am HOPELESS!

...When I try playing any music i get an error message as follows:

"Bad DirectSound driver. Please install proper drivers or select another device in configuration. Error code 88780078"

Only problem is when i got into my control panel and open up "sounds and audio devices" it won't let me select anything volume tab, in the sounds tab it won't let me preview any sounds, Audio tab can't select Default device in sound playback or sound recording or Midi music playback. voice tab...nada...hardware lets me go into properties and troubleshoot of Audio codecs, Legacy Audio Drivers, Media Control Devices, Legacy Video Capture Devices, and video Codecs, LG CD-RW CED-8120B and LITE-ON DVD SOHD-167T....

no sound...no joy...


please please please help!!!!

Hi and Welcome,
Right click my computer, select properties, click hardware, click device manager, click view,
click show hidden devices, scroll down to audio and hit the check mark, right click on each entry. If the entry shows update drive, select that.
