Explorer does not run at stratup
Explorer does not run at startup so I have no desktop icons, start menu task bar etc. I can run it via task manager but when I shut down and restart I have to do it again. How do I get it back to running automatically?

Re: Explorer does not run at stratup
Hi,
Run regedit from the task manager, and navigate to this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon Locate the shell entry in the right pane and double click it. Replace the contents with just: explorer.exe eg: "Shell"="Explorer.exe" as a key Accept changes, restart, and all should be good, if tht fails, do this: Open your registry and find the key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsof\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]. Add a New string called 'Explorer' Once string is created, double click on it and change the data field to 'C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe' Last edited by kibakiri : 07-23-2008 at 05:27 AM. Re: Explorer does not run at stratup
Welcome to TSF....
First thing do you have the recovery disk software for this computer? Please to give this a try and see if it makes a difference Taskbar Repair Tool Plus! You run the download, and in the window, use the drop down arrows to select what you want to repair/restore. http://www.g4tv.com/screensavers/fea...ar_Repair.html The Download link is at the bottom of that page....
