toolbar comes and goes

i thank you all in advance for any help

once in awhile while on line i look down and my tool bar is missing and all desktop icons

i can still surf as AOL is still open i have to restart to get all back
i click the windows tab on keyboard nuffing happens
have to restart to get it all back

again i ty all in advance

you need to have patience, its usually not proper to bump until after 24 hours. By replying to your own post, it can be perceived that you are already being help.

What toolbar are you talking about?

the tool bar at the bottom of screen with " start " in bottom left

again im truly sorry still new here still learning ... wont happen again

try right clicking on ur start bar and going to properties goto staskbar tab and make sure that autohide isnt checked

Are you getting a message along the lines "explorer.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close"? Sounds to me that explorer is closing. Next time, when this happens, instead of restarting press ctrl alt del, choose task manager, click file, new task, type in explorer.exe Does everything come back?

That is what we are here for! So, we need to find out why explorer is shutting down. Does this only happen on line?

yes only online .... it does not affect anything im doing online i can still surf just lose bar sometimes it comes back on its on sometimes i have to restart if i need it

What all do you have running in the system tray? Also, when it happens again, note the time and lets look at the event viewer log.

comcast window dr
windows securityalerts
norton 360
weather bug

all these have been here no changes in comp for awhile
dl nothing just started doing it

Along with the event viewer log I asked about, click start, run, type cmd, type sfc /scannow. Have your windows disk handy in case it asks for it. I'm going to be calling it a day soon, so if you don't hear from me it is because I am not online.

Look under application, look for an error at the time the pc blinked. Post what you find.
