How can I stop the recycle bin and the system volume information being placed on any attached devices - HDD etc.

Thanks in advance for your help

Re: Recycle Bin and & System Volume Information

Hello mchampi, Welcome to TSF!

You cannot prevent the System Volume Information and Recycler Folders/Files from being placed on external Drives.
These two are essential for Windows® to recognise the size and makeup of the Drive; with the 'Recycler' for any files/folders that are intentionally deleted by you on the particular Drive.
Without these two Folder/Files your external Drive/s would not operate.
Hope this answers the query.

Kind Regards,

Re: Recycle Bin and & System Volume Information

G'Day,
Firstly, my sincere apologies for the delayed reply; my computer decided to 'take a hike' and misbehave...its all up and running again now though.

Now back to your issue...
I certainly would not recommend turning off the System Restore, because you never know when you'll need it.

Besides, doing this will not remove the System Volume Information or the Recycler from any external devices.
Windows® needs these two files for it to be able to 'read' any external HDDs/devices; they are both essential for the Operating System.
Each time you connect an external device (particularly an external HDD), Windows® will 'check' the System Volume Information file, and if necessary, update it, so that it has the correct information to 'read'.

Why would you want to delete these files any way?...Deleting them just for the sake of it, could render the external HDD useless and non-readable.
Kind Regards,
