Recovery Disc issue

Hi, this is my first post

I am having a problem with my laptop computer. A few weeks ago I found a Trojan on my laptop and removed this using spyware doctor. Since then I am having an issue with my wireless connection. I tried to repair my wireless connection by right clicking and an error comes back when stating unable to flush DNS. My system freezes up many times after start up and forces me to shut down. What is strange I can get on when I receive a Spam message from Yahoo messenger. Also the start up is very slow. I tried to run the recovery disc but comes back with a corrupt error when trying to run.

Does anyone have any advice?

Re: Recovery Disc issue

Welcome to TSF....

First thing I would suggest is to do a backup of all of the important data on your computer to another media like CD-R, DVD or other media that you prefer to avoid data loose. After that I would then do a complete restore using the recovery disk set for the computer, this will make all of the data dissappear from the computer since it will format the hard drive. WHen this is done any part of the infection you had will be gone and you can then re-install all programming, windows update, service pack(s) and data.

Re: Recovery Disc issue

a few possibilities

do you have any hardware installed or plugged into the computer that was not there when you first purchased that computer? If so, remove it.

If that does not help, see the following from microsoft.

http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=307545

finally if the above fails, go to the harddrives manufacturers website, download and run their harddrive diagnosis utility.
