Taskbar letters, folder icons, thumnails disappear. Help

Hello,
For years I thought this was a normal problem for XP.
That as you surfed long periods, the programs open in your taskbar, and the icons, thumbnails would for a better word "deteriorate" the letters in the taskbar programs disappear leaving blank boxes. If you opened explorer the folder icons, picture thumbnails would disappear leaving only folder or picture names.
Now the reason I thought this was a normal XP problem is... I have 4 machines, Ranging from a Sony P4 3.6 to an ASUS homemade P4-3.2. to two Generic brand P4. 2.4 and 2.6. The only thing they all have in common is they all run XP Pro SP 2 and 2 with SP3 Oh another thing when its to the point of reboot is the clock display stops and everything starts going away. I'm trying to run things in the Internet to bring it on. Oh! it only happens when I surf the web a lot. Which I surf for hours. I'm paralyzed and I sit at my computer hours reading, shopping and hehe posting in forums.
But os becoming annoying having to have to reboot a couple times a day. Oh. Thats another thing. The only way to reboot is using the Windows Task Manager and Shut down restart. Alt F4 or the start shut off computer dont work.
When I get to the point where I can get some screen captures I'll adf them. Anyway, after talking to many people even gurus. They say they have never seen this before.
Am I the only one? And on 4 different machines?
No way.

Help me. I'm tired of ctrl alt del after every 5-8 hours? I'm not sure exactly how long, It depends how much I surf.
If I leave 5 scripting programs for a Multi User Dungeon I own and run. That computer runs for days. Or if I run my servers with the games, they run months. But if I get on and surf. I have to reboot after hoiurs of surfing

Surfing, rebooting and frustrated... Help

Have you checked for viruses, spyware etc? This is usually my first port of call.

Also, look for any unusual services running in task manager. Things with the extension .EXE coming from C:/Windows or /Windows/System or System 32 could be a potential virus.

Oberon2000 maybe right but here we have a procedure for checking for infections and with this thread and four computers with the same problem I would suggest doing this one computer at a time.... Also they are a bit busy there so be patient.

I recommend that you read this article… ( "Simply, click on the links to be re-directed.)

where an Analyst will assist you with other workarounds.

Once done, please be patient, as the Security Team Analysts are usually very busy; one of them will answer your request as soon as they can. .
