1 pc keeps disconnecting from internet
Hello.
I am having an internet connection issue with one of my home pc's. I use DSL, have 6 pc's in the home and a router. The other 5 pc's are perfectly fine and have no internet connection issues. The pc in question is running Windows XP SP3. I use Ventrilo for communications, and play video games on this pc. Usually between 5 minutes and 2 hours my ventrilo connection and video game connection will all disconnect at the same time. I try many things to re-establish the connection but all fail. When I try ipconfig /renew I receive a message stating the DHCP server is unavailable. Rebooting always fixes the problem. I've used PC Doctor to do a test of my network card and it passes. I have removed my network connections and allowed Windows to auto detect them. I have defrag'd my hard drive, updated Windows, etc. I have ensured the network card does not use any power save option, nor does my pc. My anti-virus software (Norton) expired on 4/30/2008 but I still use it and it detects no problems. I created a HijackThis report which is below. Any assistance would be appreciated. Re: 1 pc keeps disconnecting from internet
I appreciate your suggestions.
I have already tried /flushdns, no change. I have tried /release and /renew. The renew fails, then when I reboot all is well. I also checked the DHCP service. It was running. I stopped and restarted the service but still could not /renew any other ideas? |

Re: 1 pc keeps disconnecting from internet
When the computer loses internet, are the other computers in the house also using the internet? Can you try to shutdown all the other computers and see if it still happens?
