Confused UK Keyboard option in WinXp Sp2

Firstly, I apologise if this problem has been posted before. I did search the forums, got bored after 200 pages so thought I'd ask the experts.

My problem is small in nature, but big in irritability.

I recently reinstalled WinXp but I don;t have the option to select the UK keyboard. Best I'm left with is US. Fine for a while, I can get used to " being where @ should be, but hate having to go into Character Map for the pound sign (£).

Is there anywhere I can get the UK drivers for Windows at all??

I don't want to have to buy yet ANOTHER copy of XP.

Puzzling question, completely irrelevant to my query... What exactly DO you buy when purchasing WinXP? The license, the software, both or none??

Strangely, it appears to have corrected itself.

So. Problem solved.

Re: UK Keyboard option in WinXp Sp2

With reference to this problem. The lack of the UK Keyboard layout was due to my own stupidity of installing the US version of WinXP.

If you ever fall foul of this, I have a solution. I created the layout using the Microsoft Keyboard Layout Editor with a few small additions. Namely € (EURO), ÷ (DIVIDE (Useful for students)) and the fractions ¼, ½ and ¾ all accessable with a keystroke. Details are in the readme file names "Custom Additions".

To install the layout, un-zip the file anywhere. Right Click (that's click the right mouse button) on the file "UK_i386" and select install.

Once installed, the layout can be selected through Regional and Language Options.

UK Keyboard Layout/IME size is 49Kb
