Boot up

Hi,
having installed system mechanic seven and then removed from add/removal program have left over error which shows when booting up computer. This error is between Windows & Welcome screen the message says: Iolo System Mechanic boot -- time defragmentation V 7.5
(C) 2004 -- 2007 Iolo technology,LLC.
All right reserved
press any key to abort
:"aborted,error-Getconfigurationdata"
when comply with this request the boot up continues.

Having reinstalled and disabled any boot-time registry defragmentation thence uninstalled still the pop up windows occurs.
Any further ideas-cannot find anything on iolo support site???????????????

Would appreciate if anyone can tell me how to remove. Thanks,

Re: Boot up

Wecome to TSF....

Try a system restore to before the system mechanic was installed or if you for some reason can not then re-install system mechanic to the same spot and reboot the computer and attempt to remove thru add-remove programs again.

Re: Boot up

Hi Thorxp for your prompt reply however unable to do a system restore as my hard drive crashed and when my computer technician restarted my machine that particular screen was showing up. Since then have reinstalled system mechanic seven and thence uninstalled via ad/remove and still that particular screen shows up between my Windows and welcome screen.
Initially was advised by another forum (Techrepublic) to your site as this particular person on the former forum believed you may be able to assist in eradicating this screen, as he believes it is Windows generated.
My computer still works but this screen is very annoying and would certainly like to rid myself of it!!!

Look forward to hearing from you soon,

Thanks and regards,

John
