unable to activate windows xp sp2
Becasue of security problems, was forced to attempt repair of windows xp sp2. Repair succeeded but then prompted for activation code. I inadvertently may have entered the wrong code as I have several licenses.
Now when I boot - I get the windows login screen - when I click on the user name - error message comes up says - this copy of windows must be activated - options are yes or no - clicking on yes brings up a blank desktop for a very long time and then puts me back at the login screen - clicking on no puts me back at the logon screen right away. I believe the problem is that windows cannot access the internet to authenticate the activation but I cannot connect to the internet without windows. A real catch 22! The system boots in safe mode! Any help would be appreciated |

Re: unable to activate windows xp sp2
Unfortunately, I don't have that option - can only boot in safe mode - otherwise am stuck at the windows login screen - my security prblems involved installing Iolo system mechanic, letting trial period expire and then activating my Trend Micro - soemhow Iolo and Trend jsut don't coexist very well
