Illegal system relocation shell32.dll in SP3
Hi all!
I had the same problem in SP2 (with RTHDCPL.EXE, calc,..and getting this error message), solved, but now I installed Service pack 3 and surprise! the problem is back! But now I can't install the fix because is not the right version, I can't uninstall update 925902 because in Add/Remove now is just one file - Service pack 3 and no list of updates. What to do? Help! |

Re: Illegal system relocation shell32.dll in SP3
The main problem is not realtek driver but various random setup files which don't want to run.. I'm getting the same error than with this driver (I mentioned it because Microsoft released a fix - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935448 - just because of that and if you type this in gooogle you'll get a lot of hits.. but all for SP2!).. and calculator.. and many more. Is there any way to remove just parts of SP3?

No, you can't remove parts of SP3 (AFAIK).
Is it always the same error - "Illegal system relocation shell32.dll"? What programs/hardware generate the error? Last edited by Deleted090308 : 05-14-2008 at 08:07 AM. |

Re: Illegal system relocation shell32.dll in SP3
Welcome to TSF....
The solution might be approximately the same as for service pack 2 when you installed it because the new service pack 3 like other service packs removes all older service packs and also all of the windows updates and then re-installs all of them all over again and undoes any fixes that were previously done by Microsoft released a fix - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935448 I did a search for the above error fix for SP3 and found nothing, your best bet might be to call Microsoft Here's the telephone number you can use to contact Microsoft for free XP SP3 support: 866-234-6020.
