IE 6 or OE activate PROXY SERVER I DON'T WANT

System info: WinXPhome,v.2002,SvcPk2,no Word,
Machine: ToshSatelliteM55,Pentium 1.73GHz,1.0G ram
HomeWirelessLan:BellSouthWestelmodem,T-MoblLinksysb/g router,3 other machines on LAN don't seem to have problem.
GoogleBrowser,SecurityAVG7.5,CA Anti-Spm,Ad-aware for excess cookie catching. AVGwill change, uses gross amt of VM,CA changed software also changing, not yet.
Misc.: IE 6/OE-transiting to G-Mail.
EFFECT OF PROBLEM: Download/opening of mail slows big time;new URL opens slow, big time.
PROBLEM: When this happens,I find my LAN settings have been changed to "use proxy server"-I uncheck, delete 127.0.0.1,ensure "Auto detect settings" is not checked and start again. It inevitably re-checks "Use Proxy for LAN" eventually. Could not find specific problem on MS site;closest I found said disable Access Control by going to Winsock Proxy Client and checking disable (not using Control Panel). Search said I don't have Winsock Proxy Client. DEcided I'm just over my head on this one. Thanks for any ideas. FLAGOO

Re: IE 6 or OE activate PROXY SERVER I DON'T WANT

Clarification: EVERY TIME I CHECK "LAN SETTINGS" I FIND SOMETHING HAS CHECKED "USE PROXY SERVER" - THIS STOPS THE COMPUTER OR SLOWS IT WHENEVER I SEARCH FOR A SITE, OPEN A SITE OR EVEN MOVE FROM ONE SECTION OF A SITE TO ANOTHER. (signed)FLAGOO
