usb sata drive not recognized by xp

usb sata drive not recognized
Have a 500gb sata usb drive that has been working fine. had it on and unplugged my printer cable form back of computer. error came up that the drive had not closed and or been written to and that data would be lost. shut down usb drive and now XP pro sp2 will not acknowledge. have a 200 gb ide drive that mounts fine. have celeron 3.2mhz cpu, abit sg-80 mobo w/512 ram. no info on microsoft for such a problem??
any ideas??? is there a HD recovery tool???

Hi
Are you sure you unplugged the right usb cable because it should not have come up with that error.
I know before you can unplug a usb pendrive it has to be closed through windows first otherwise you can damage the pendrive making it un-usable.
